The ArtsCenter Stage
“Gem of the Ocean” by August Wilson is, chronologically, the first work of his 10-play cycle dramatizing the African-American experience during the 20th century. “Gem of the Ocean” premiered at The Goodman Theatre in Chicago April 2003 and moved to Broadway in 2004. It was nominated for five Tony Awards including Best Play. ArtsCenter Stage will present “Gem of the Ocean” in The ArtsCenter’s Earl & Rhoda Wynn Theater May 9-11 and 15-18.
